Five Handbag Cleaning Tips
Oftentimes, women to tend to forget to clean their handbags. Cleaning your handbags is not that hard; in fact, here are some ways to do it.
1. At the end of the day, empty your bag. When we say empty that means taking everything you placed inside your bag including pens. It is important that you don't leave pens inside your bag because the ink can leak out and stain not only the inside lining of your bag but the outside as well. Ink stains are hard to remove and it can cause real damage to the overall appearance of your bag because ink stains tend to be very visible.
2. Turn the pockets of your handbag inside out. This is to facilitate the removal of tiny particles stuck on the corners of the pockets. In addition, turning pockets inside out will also assure you that you have taken out everything. Most of the time, when women are cleaning their handbags they tend to forget about the secret pockets. That is why after you remove everything, it is advisable to turn the pockets. Turning the pockets will also make it easier to brush or vacuum.
3. Of course, there are debris that you can't get rid of without assistance. To remove these tiny particles stuck on the corners and the pockets of your handbag, you can use either a lint roller or a small or portable vacuum cleaner with brush attachment and an adhesive tape. The lint roller when used attracts particles like dust, fallen hair and other debris and the same thing goes for the vacuum cleaner and adhesive tape. This is done to totally clean your bag from dirt particles. You can never tell what's lurking on those corners. When doing this make sure that you pay more attention to the sides of the bag as well as the pockets.
4. Once you are sure that you have took out all the debris, it is time to pay attention to the inner lining. Yes, the inner lining has to be cleaned to. You can do this by turning it inside out or if your bag is flexible enough like a canvas bag you can turn the whole bag inside out. Once turned, check the inner lining for spots and stains. In case you find some spots, you can use alcohol free baby wipes to clean it or a clean cloth with warm water and a little bit of detergent. Remember that you have to remove the stain as soon as possible because if you let it sit for a while, the stain will set in and it will be harder to remove.
5. After cleaning the inside, you can now turn your attention to the outside and more visible part of your bag. If you find some stains on the outside, you can remove them using the appropriate method depending on the material of your handbag. Remember that the stain removal method will have to rely heavily on the material. What is used to remove stains on leather handbags cannot be used to remove stains on suede handbags. It is best that you consult an expert when you have this kind of problem. On the other hand, if all is pristine on the outside all you have to do is apply a protection spray on your handbag. These sprays will serve as a protective covering so in case you stain your handbag, it will be easier to remove and less damage will be made.
