Eight Clues Of A Knock Off Designer Handbag
Designer handbags are an investment but then again, there are those stores that sell knock-offs and replicas. Here are some tips on how to spot a fake designer handbag.
1. Always check the price tag. If you are a true blue designer fanatic it is expected that you are aware with the regular prices of designer handbags. Keep in mind that designer handbags don't come cheap. So if you are at a store and the attendant offers you a designer handbag at a very low price, then think twice before you decide on buying it.
It is impossible for a designer handbag to bear a price tag at rock bottom level. It can be discounted but not that low. A designer handbag cannot come that cheap. A designer handbag sold at $40 or $50 is worth the suspicion.
2. Check the fabric. The fabrics and materials used to manufacture knock-off designer handbags are of low quality. The leather won't feel like leather at all; it might feel like plastic rigid instead of being supple. In addition, the inner fabric is not made of cotton; instead, it is made from something synthetic.
3. Zipper. High quality zippers glide smoothly but low quality zippers don't. Most knock-offs use low quality zippers which is why it is hard to zip it open or close. There are also times when the zipper teeth are crooked which can result to a not so smooth glide.
4. Designer handbags come in different styles. If someone offers you a bag that is rather unusual and doesn't look like the rest of the recent designs, then don't fall for it. If you think the style is incorrect or is unusual, then do not buy it. Sellers of knock offs rely on their convincing power. So don't believe them that the unique design of the bag is part of the limited edition line. Doubt even more if you notice other signs of it being a fake.
5. Logos. Designer handbag logos are often engraved in thick steel-like material or plates. The plates are thick. Plates used in fake designer handbags are thin and can be bent easily. The engravings are blurry and often misspelled. Authentic designer handbags also have logos printed on the inner lining.
6. Charms and accents. Some designer handbags have charms attached to the zipper handles. Knock-offs may also have this detail but take note of the material used to create the charms. Knock-off charms are usually made from low quality materials and not as thick as those charms used in authentic designer handbags.
In addition to charms, there are also handbag accents attached to the surface of the handbag. These accents are attached with utmost care and are aligned as accurately as possible. In the case of knock-offs these accents are poorly aligned and poorly set.
7. Documents. Authentic handbags come with documents otherwise known as authenticity documentation. These documents contain information about the designer as well as handbag care instructions and probably a warranty. The documents serve as a certificate of authenticity. Knock-offs don't have these or if ever these have this it is printed on poor quality paper.
8. Store. Designer handbags are sold in exclusive retailers. So if you are shopping somewhere else other than the official retailer of that designer handbag, then it wouldn't a shock if you stumble upon replicas, fakes and knock-offs.
